PM&DC, HEC join hands to modernise curriculum

Islamabad - Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has joined hands with HEC to revise medical and dental curriculum in the country and make it at par with the international standards.
Addressing a joint press conference President PM&DC Prof Dr Masood Hameed and Chairman HEC Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that this step will help improve professional capability of students.
The chairman HEC said that the commission is ready to provide every possible technical support to PM&DC in the revision of medical Curriculum which is a need of hour. He appreciated the working of PM&DC and said that the Council has done a lot in maintaining the standards of medical dental education in the Country.
 “The MBBS/BDS curriculum is going to be revised after almost after 10 years. We intend to revise to bring it on at par with international standards. This meeting is a continuation of process for making curriculum according to the international standards. The agenda of the meeting is to change the traditional medical dental in to integrated /modular system of education.” President PM&DC said that PM&DC curriculum setting will be enhanced and minimum requirements for training institutions will be refreshed and the main object of this revision is to evaluate and key link the flaws in the education system to standradise in the medical curriculum. He said that the council has constituted a special team to monitor and address the complaints being received to PM&DC regarding flaws in medical universities related with the students and faculty. Examiners, educationist, renowned health professional and medical dental practitioners are part of this team.
He said that there is a dire need to bring the MBBS/BDS curriculum in the country up to date.
