Nisar warns govt against 'interference' in Punjab

ISLAMABAD - Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday warned the Federal Government of serious implications if it continued its interference in the Punjab province. Accusing the Federal Government at a press conference, Nisar took serious notice of the Federal Governments move to deploy FC troops during the recent bye-elections in the province without taking the provincial Government on board. The move was malicious, as it aimed at creating a direct confrontation between the Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governments, Nisar said. He added that the Punjab Government had registered an FIR against the FC personnel but did not take them to task just to avoid confrontation between the two provincial Governments. The Punjab Government has taken notice of dispatching of FC and Rangers personnel to the province and warned of strict action if such move is repeated in future, he warned. The Opposition Leader advised 'Chaudhry brothers to provide legal help to Hamesh Khan instead of acting as his legal counsel. Levelling allegations against the Sharif family is like the allegations once levelled against late Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi in a buffalo theft case, he said, adding that those who were defending Hamesh Khan actually backing his unlawful actions. He also alleged that the Federal Government was trying to create a clash between the Parliament and judiciary and those who were giving suggestions to the court to summon the architect of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), they themselves gave protocol to Pervez Musharraf. Chaudhry Nisar said that the centre had advised SC to summon Pervez Musharraf, the architect of NRO, but it itself gave protocol to him. It also let him flee the country and still some of his supporters were holding key posts. The Govt should not over rate such an important issue with mere political statements. He said that a serving Col of the Pakistan army was deployed for Musharrafs security. Chaudhry Nisar said that a man, who trampled upon the law of this country and fled, was being provided security abroad through the taxpayers money. He said that the SC had given clear instruction on NRO but the Government was reluctant to follow it and was openly violating the orders of the Supreme Court.
