NAB chief appointment: Petitioner seeks change of judge

Petitioner Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafri who had challenged the appointment of Justice (Rtd) Deedar Hussain Shah as Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) refused to appear in the court of Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh on Monday, a private TV reported. The petitioner filed a written request that the NAB appointment case be heard in another judge's court. The petitioner said he does not want to appear in Justice Nasir Sheikh's court due to "certain constitutional and personal reasons". Earlier on Saturday, Justice (Rtd) Deedar Hussain Shah's appointment as NAB chief was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) by Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafri. The petitioner opined that Deedar Shah's appointment was not based on merit. He further requested the court to overturn the appointment "for being based on political motivations".
