Five cops killed in Dir attack

DIR UPPER - At least five policemen including SHO and ASI were gunned down and two others received severe injuries, when miscreants attacked a police van in Dir Upper on Wednesday. According to details, five policemen included Station House Officer (SHO) Fateh-ur-Rehman, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amir Khan, Constables Haroon-ur-Rashid, Jan Zeb and Shah Zamin were killed and their two other companions Constables Shahab-u-Din and Ghulam Rahim sustained serious injuries, when their van was attacked in Shringal area. They were on their routine patrolling in the far off area of Shringal, when unidentified armed men attacked the police van they were boarding that resulted in killing of five of them and injuring two policemen. The injured were rushed to the hospital. It has also been reported that the miscreants first opened indiscriminate firing on police vehicle and then fired rockets on it. Besides, it has also been reported that the armed men took away police arms with them. No one has claimed the responsibility of the attack.
