Musharraf will be asked to come back: Rashid

KARACHI - The leaders of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Tuesday vowed that they would defend their leader Pervez Musharraf in the wake of any trial over the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti and the Lal Masjid operation. Addressing a joint press conference at Karachi Press Club, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif and Major General (retd) Rashid Qureshi said that former president General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf was not involved in the Lal Masjid Operation, assassination of Benazir Bhutto and Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti. They warned that at present Musharraf was head of a political party and any move against him would be resisted at every level. Pervez Musharaf led All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) has started its political endeavour and many workers of other political parties are joining it, they added. They claimed that many workers of Tehrik-e-Insaf, PML-Q, PML Likeminded group and Awami Muslim League have joined their party. They further told the media persons that they were forming administrative councils in Sindh including Karachi and that they did not have any political dispute with MQM. We will soon send an invitation to Pervez Musharaf to come back to the country, they further added. Musharraf aides claimed that former military ruler was the only leader of the country, who bravely represented the country at every forum. They stated that APML wanted to end families politics from the country saying that people from every part of the country had welcomed the APML public contact campaign. Musharraf aides said that sooner they would organise the APML at every level.
