Rupee gains 21 paisas against dollar

Our Staff Reporter KARACHI - The value of dollar decreased against the rupee in the inter bank market, dealers said Friday. It initiated the days trading at Rs89.28 for buying, lost Re0.21 and closed at Rs89.07 for buying and Rs89.12 for selling. The European currency lost its value against the rupee as it began the days trading at Rs119.63 for buying, fell Re0.82 and closed at Rs118.81 for buying and Rs119.01 for selling. The pound sterling shed strength against the local currency, it started the days trading at Rs140.45 for buying, moved Rs1.31 down and closed at Rs139.14 for buying and Rs139.34 for selling. In open market the dollar recorded losses against the rupee, dealers said. It started the days trading at Rs89.2 for buying, fell Re0.40 and closed at Rs88.8 for buying and Rs89.35 for selling. The Euro depreciated against local currency as it initiated the days trading at Rs119, lost Re0.50 and closed at Rs118.5 for buying and Rs120 for selling. The British pound witnessed decrement in its value against the rupee, it began the days trading at Rs139 for buying, went 50 paisas down and closed at Rs138.5 for buying and Rs140.2 for selling.
