PCB shortlists coaches names

LAHORE Pakistan Cricket Boards (PCB) committee nominated for short-listing of foreign and local coaches names for the Pakistan team has finalised the provisional list, it is reliably learnt on Thursday. The final names will be announced in the end of November after more entries till November 18 after receiving final applications from the desired candidates. Earlier Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued additional advertisement of filing applications by November 18, for the candidates desired to become the coach of Pakistan team. In response to the earlier advertisement issued by the PCB for the Pakistan teams coaching job a few candidates applied for the job from which two foreign candidates Australian Dean Jones and Australian Dave Whatmore have been shortlisted. Dave Whatmore coached Sri Lanka and helped them to win 1996 World Cup after beating Australia in final, played in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. On the other two lucky local coaches, Sabih Azhar and Aaqib Javed names have been short-listed while for fielding coach a few local coaches are under consideration and Ijaz Ahmed is one of them. Sabih, coach-cum-manager, helped Pakistan U-25 team to snatch Saarc Twenty20 Cup title by beating favourites Sri Lanka in the final and deserved for the national team coaching job. He also helped Rawalpindi Rams to win the Faysalbank Twenty20 Cup title played in Faisalabad. The final list will be presented after November 18 to the newly-appointed PCB chief Zaka Ashraf for his approval and appointment. Earlier the new chief has desired to keep three different coaches for batting, bowling and fielding respectively. Meanwhile reportedly former South Africa coach Mickey Arthur is interesting to succeed Waqar Younis. Arthur, however, played down the prospect of a move to oversee the troubled team. I havent had contact from anybody. At the moment, I would very likely be declining it, the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Arthur, as saying. According to reports, the PCB is also considering the names of Moin Khan for the national fielding coach position.
