Give us more hospitals

I wish to draw the attention of the Chairman CDA and federal Ministry of Health towards the need for having another federal government hospital on the pattern of PIMS on Club Road Islamabad. A new hospital on this road would cater for the population of Rawal Town, Margala Town, Bara Khuh and the adjoining areas of Faizabad. Now that the capital is expanding day by day on all sides, PIMS, FGSH and Capital hospitals are not enough to meet the growing medical needs of the residents of these settlements of Islamabad. There is a dire need to set up hospitals in different sectors of the capital so that basic facilities may be provided at the nearest possible points to these localities. A nearby hospital can save people from a lot of unnecessary anxiety and mental tension because of long distances, traffic jam, wastage of petrol and unavailability, or lack of connectivity of respectable public transport. The planers, and city authorities of Islamabad have taken care to include commercial plazas of every ilk in each sector but no teaching hospitals. If the population doesn't have cheap and reasonable medical and educational facilities at their doorstep, what is the use of having markets full of luxury goods in every sector? -SABA GUL, Islamabad, via e-mail, February 6.
