COAS confirms death sentence to 7 terrorists

ISLAMABAD - Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Thursday confirmed death sentence to seven terrorists.

According to ISPR, the convicted terrorists were involved in attacks on citizens and personnel of police and armed forces, and other terrorist activities. The military courts had awarded death sentences to the most wanted terrorists. The convicted terrorists included Muhammad Qasim Toori, Abid Ali, Muhammad Danish, Syed Jahangir Haider, Zeeshan, Mutahar Khan and Rehmanuddin.

According to details, convicts Muhammad Qasim Tori, Abid Ali and Muhammad Danish have been active members of different banned outfits. They were involved in attacking law enforcement agencies which resulted in death of inspector Ali Asghar Dahri, head constable Raja Tariq and injuries to two other police officials. They were also in possession of firearms and explosives. All three were awarded death sentences.

Convicts Syed Jehangir Haider and Zeeshan were involved in sectarian killings and attacking law enforcement agency. They were also in possession of firearms and explosives. The convicts admitted their offences before the trial court. Both convicts were awarded death sentences.

Other two convicts including Mutabar Khan and Rehmanuddin were active members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). They were involved in attacking armed forces of Pakistan, law enforcement agencies and killing a member of peace committee.

They were also in possession of firearms and explosives. The convicts admitted their offences before the magistrate and the trial court. They were awarded death sentences.
