Rehman Malik proposes Jirga for reconciliation

ISLAMABAD- Former interior minister Rehman Malik in the meeting of parliamentary leaders held under the chair of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, gave the proposal of a national jirga to resolve the political crisis.

The participants agreed with the proposal and asked Rehman Malik to head the jirga which he refused. The name of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurhsid Shah was also proposed for heading the jirga. He, however, also refuted to head it, saying Imran Khan would not accept his name.

Sources said the decision will be taken with mutual consultation. Sources also said Jamaat Islami chief Sirajul Haq may lead the jirga as enjoys good reputation among political circles.
