‘Better wage protesters’ baton charged in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD- Police baton charged the government employees, who were heading towards red zone in protest, seeking raise in their wages on today.
Government teachers and clerk association employees protested in Islamabad to voice their demand for increase in salaries. The rally turned violent when the protesters attempted to move towards red zone through Polyclinic area. Police fired rubber bullets and resorted to baton charge.
The protesters also carried stones and pelted at police in rage. At least 16 protesters were injured in clash with police. Police also detained several protesting employees during the demonstration.
