PESHAWAR Tribal elders belonging to different parts of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) have demanded to hold a 'grand jirga for the peaceful settlement of all the problems confronting the tribesmen. They have also urged the public representatives to play their due role to remove their grievances. It has also become a responsibility of religious leaders and social organisations to come forward and help the tribal people in the present trying situation, Zar Ali said while speaking at a news conference here at press club on Saturday. He said the tribal people were passing through a critical juncture of the history, as they lacked even basic amenities of life. Flanked by tribal elders including Noshad Zakha Khel, Khan Habib, Malik Shah Alam, he demanded of the government to 'give pen to children instead of guns. They stressed need for stoppage of suicide attacks inside mosques, funeral prayers, hujras and schools and demanded to bring them into mainstream by ensuring all basic human rights. Tribal people are peace-loving and believe in peaceful resolution of all problems through dialogue and negotiation, he remarked, adding that all these problems could be amicably resolved through a grand jirga.
