LAHORE The Pathology Department of Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) received ISO-900:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certification by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKA-S) and Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC). The Department was given this recognition because it satisfactorily complied with the requirements of the accrediting bodies - an established control system, well-equipped labs, an efficient system of report-handling and processing, environmental protection and waste management control being paramount considerations. Medical Superintendent Services Hospital Dr Muha-mmad Javed said that the Department offered round-the-clock services to indoor and outdoor patients, and particular emphasis was on quality control and efficient running of the various labs. These are computerised and give on-line services to ward patients for their convenience. The labs were provided with the latest equipment and instruments which were mostly automated, he added.
