IRSA releases 56,788 cusecs water for Sindh Rabi crop


ISLAMABAD - To meet water requirements of Sindh province pertaining Rabi crop, the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Monday released 56,788 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 46,113 cusecs, sources have told TheNation.
Following the demands of Sindh province to meet irrigation purpose for Rabi crops especially largely grown wheat crop, IRSA has released water from different sources.
According to data released by IRSA, water level in the Indus River at Tarbela Dam was 1452.65 feet, which was 74.65 feet higher than its dead level 1378 feet. Water inflow in the dam was recorded as 16,700 cusecs while outflow was recorded as 25,000 cusecs.
The water level in the Jhelum River at Mangla Dam was 1138.55 feet, which was 98.55 feet higher than its dead level of 1040 feet whereas the inflow and outflow of water was recorded as 7,625 cusecs and 10,000 cusecs respectively.
The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded as 28,567, 30,101 and 12,350 cusecs respectively.
Similarly, from the Kabul River a total of 13,300 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera and 8,088 cusecs released from the Chenab River at Marala.
