IGI Life, Soneri Bank sign agreement

KARACHI (PR): IGI Life and Soneri Bank have signed a Bancatakaful distribution agreement under which IGI Life’s takaful products will be distributed using Soneri Bank’s branch network.

The signing ceremony was held at Soneri Bank’s head office the other day. Soneri Bank was represented by its Chief Operating Officer Amin A Feerasta and Head of Bancassurance Afzal Shah, while IGI Life was represented by its Dy Chief Executive Officer Nadeem R. Malik, Head of Window Takaful Operations Dr Bakht Jamal, Head of Bancassurance Sales Saqib Burney and Manager Special Projects and New initiatives Khalid Qureshi.

Bank Alfalah Rising Talent award

LAHORE (PR): Three up-and-coming young talents in fashion showcased their collections while vying for Bank Alfalah Rising Talent award at the opening of the PFDC Bridal Week Thursday. The Rising Talent initiative, holding the apt tagline ‘Discovering the Potential of Pakistan,’ aims to motivate, inspire, and recognize aspiring fashion designers of the country by providing them opportunities to hone their skills and augment their exposure.

The three potential entrants to the Pakistani fashion scene included Mariam Amjad, Sara Naqvi, AminaNaeem, who exhibited their bridal collections amid fervent response from the audience. The best designer, chosen through a transparent voting of jurors and public, will be announced on the last day of the event i.e. Sep 30, and will take home the Bank Alfalah Rising Talent award along with a prize money of half a million rupees.

Providing details of the contenders and glimpses of their collections were Bank Alfalah Rising Talent stands where the designers were personally available for interaction with public and media. Audience was prompted to vote for their favorite designer through an e-voting booth present in the Bank Alfalah lounge at the venue, as well as through social media channels. Bank Alfalah representatives were also present at the event and could be reached for comment or facilitation.

 

 

 

UET organises seminar

LAHORE (PR): A seminar on “Waste Water Treatment: Industrial Waste and its effluent disposal”, arranged by the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of University of Engineering and Technology, was held at Chemical Seminar Hall. The main objective of this event was to give awareness about methodology and engineering designs to dispose the industrial waste water. Chief guest, Director of Solution Environmental and Analytical Laboratory (SEAL) Engr Nihal Asghar said that disposal of industrial wastewater is a challenge for engineering so high technical skills and deep observation are required to keep our environment clean from pollution.

He added more with the introduction of different methods that proper research based planning is needed to achieve the target and in this respect, engineers should be updated about the modern trends and techniques to overcome the issues related with waste water treatment by utilizing time and resources properly. Engr. Nihal Asghar provided different solutions to many industries for overcome this condition and his services in this field is appreciable.

 

 

Scholarships for UCP students

LAHORE (PR): Reference to MoU signed between Guangdong Ocean University and University of Central Punjab, 6 BS Mechanical Engineering degree holders from UCP are leaving to pursue their MS degrees at Guangdong Ocean University on fully funded scholarships, while 11 students from other different faculties of UCP have availed scholarships at the same university for Chinese language courses.

 

 

 

Honda launches new engine oil

LAHORE (PR): Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan Limited (HACPL) recently launched 0W20 SN grade engine oil in a colorful ceremony in Lahore. HACPL is the first OEM in Pakistan to launch this high grade fully synthetic engine oil. Total Parco Pakistan Ltd blends base oil and additives as per formula by Idemitsu Lube to develop Honda Genuine Engine Oil for HACPL.

Toichi Ishiyama, President/CEO Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Limited , Ryota Takizawa, MD Idemitsu Lube Middle East & Africa FZE, and Asif Iqbal, VP – TOTAL PARCO Pakistan Ltd, unveiled the product at a ceremony. The newly launched engine oil is available at all authorized Honda dealers across Pakistan.

Toichi Ishiyama explained that globally all companies are moving towards CO2 reduction, as global warming awareness. Honda is one of the pioneer companies to join this environmental awareness (reduce CO2) through innovation and evolution. Honda engine is designed to use low viscosity engine oil to save fuels.

 

 

Samsung gives big prizes to winners of its offer

BoP moves into EMV payment solution services

LAHORE (PR): As part of its digital payments transformation strategy, Bank of Punjab recently undertook the facility of upgrading its payment cards infrastructure to the EMV chip based platform. The EMV conversion enables the bank to offer next generation banking products and services to its customers while securing payment transactions with enhanced functionality - card authentication, card holder verification and transaction authorization. Following the global migration trend, the SBP has instructed all commercial banks to migrate their entire card base to EMV. The bank has partnered with Oberthur Technologies on the EMV issuance.

Currently, Bank of Punjab is in a process of not only migrating its cards, but the entire payments eco system – card management system, POS, ATMs, and e-commerce – to EMV. The signing ceremony took place at The BOP head office in Lahore and was attended by senior representatives from both organizations.

 

 

VU students get laptops under PM’s scheme

LAHORE (PR): Virtual University of Pakistan organized the first event to distribute a total of 2500 laptops amongst students under the Prime Minister's Laptops Scheme.

A formal ceremony was held at MA Jinnah Campus to give away laptops to high achievers. Dr Naveed A Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan, distributed the laptops.
