Proposal to impose tax on agri sector under consideration

lahore - Provincial Minister for Finance, Excise & Taxation Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman has said that tax has been levied only on affluent segments of society, while there is also a proposal to impose tax on agriculture sector.
He said that property tax, motor vehicle tax and tax on services are the major source of provincial income and government is taking solid steps to simplify the tax collecting/paying system. He said that present government has launched many public welfare oriented projects, so that to uplift the socio-economic status of the masses. While talking to various delegations of party workers, Mujtaba Shujja ur Rehman said that an amount of Rs.102 billion is being utilized on the provision of standardized health facilities which is 10.9 percent of the total budget. He said that huge amount of Rs 7.5billon is being spent on the provision of free treatment and medicines to the poor and destitute in public sector hospitals of the province.  Mujtaba Shujja ur Rehman said that government is spending Rs. 244 billion on education sector which is 26 percent of the total budget.
He said that enrollment campaign is going on successfully and five lakh children have got admission in schools during the last six months and enrollment of 98 percent children will be ensured in schools during the next two to three years. He said that enrollment of 15 lakh children under voucher scheme of Punjab Education Foundation will be ensured up to next month and all possible steps are being taken for the achievement of this target.
