Woman, step daughter ‘tortured to death’

HAFIZABAD
The dead bodies of a young married woman and her stepdaughter were found from their house here in village Jurian village.
According to Abdul Ghafoor, his wife Tahira Bibi and 17-year-old daughter Iram Shahzadi were electrocuted while villagers told the mediamen that Tahira Bibi and Iram were of dubious character and they were tortured to death by Abdul Ghafoor and others.
The police are investigating.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested 50 suspects, most of them foreigners in raids in different localities of the city. According to DPO Muhammad Zubair Dareshak, the SHOs of City, Sadder, Kassoki police, Elite Force headed by DSP CIA Ihsanullah raided Hassan Town, Sherabad, Sherpura and Ali Chowk Bypass and arrested 50 suspects. The police also seized firearms from them.
According to police most of them belonged to Afghanistan and they have no legal documents or permission/registration to stay in Pakistan. Further investigation is in progress.
Visit to ramazan bazaar: Shortage of essential items particularly wheat flour and sugar would not be tolerated and if any complaint was received in this respect, the official concerned would be responsible, said MPA Asadullah Arain.
Inspecting a Ramzan bazaar in Vanike Tarar village, he said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has proved himself as a true servant of people by ensuring the provision of essential commodities in Ramazan bazaars at “subsidised” rates even in the remote area like Vanike village. He lauded the district administration and police for conducting sudden visits to the bazaars and monitoring the auction of fruit and vegetables in the wholesale markets at Hafizabad daily.
