Punjab divide on linguistic basis unacceptable

MAILSI - The creation of new province in Punjab is acceptable but it should be on administrative basis not on linguistic or ethnic basis and it should be named as Panjnud, where five rivers flow.
Pakistan Muslim League-N MPA Naeem Khan Bhabha remarked during an exclusive interview with The Nation here in Mauza Dhallo the other day.
Bhabha said that many languages like; Saraiki, Punjabi, Pashto, Haryanvi and others were being spoken in South Punjab and creation of a province just in the name of one language would only divide the people.
He said that it was Pakistan People’s Party’s design to divide the country’s most populated province on linguistic basis for its political gains.
He maintained that if necessary, new province should be created on administrative basis and it should be named as Panjnad, the land of five rivers, where people speak different languages that was the beauty of this area.
Talking about his party’s popularity, he claimed that the graph of PNL-N popularity was rising under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
To a question about Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaf (PTI), Bhaba said the PTI was founded by agencies and it had no basis in people and its popularity would burst like balloon in upcoming elections.
He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif was the only person who could change the fate of this country and solve its problem.
Talking about the development in the area, he said that He received a lot of development funds from Punjab government that were spent in the tehsil.
Counting the cost of development projects in the area, Bhabha said that Rs1.4 million was spent on road construction in 88/WB, Rs130 million had been allocated for road and new government degree college in Karampur, Rs60 million for up-gradation of Mittro High school in 50/WB, Rs0.6 million for middle school in 48/WB Mauza Dhallo and two middle schools and eight new primary schools were established in the area.
He disclosed that a grant of Rs2.5 million had also been received for RHC Karampur.
He also mentioned that a 9KM road had been constructed from Mouza Harichand to Dhallo at a cost of Rs30 million and Rs600 million were spent on another18-Km road from Mauza Dhallo to Saifan.
Bhabha told The Nation that new projects of sewerage System, water Supply in his native and surrounding villages, tough tiles in some areas and bridges on Mailsi SMB Link Canal was built at a cost of Rs25 million.
Other development proposal of Rs28 million are still pending, he added.
To a question about his dispute with Tehmina Daultana, he said that Tehmina’s poor policies had affected the party but on the PML-N leadership advice, he was ready to work in collaboration with Tehmina.
He said he was not building the castle in the air and development in PP-237 could be observed by everyone.
“I believe only in facts and fact is that I severed the people and spend most of my time in my area PP-237, that’s why CM Shahbaz Sharif visited three times my area during this tenure,” he concluded.
