FRANCIS Bacons portrait of his friend and fellow artist Lucian Freud fetched $37 million at a London auction. Auctioneer Sothebys said that the triptych, Three Studies for a Portrait of Lucian Freud, was bought a bidder who wished to remain anonymous.
