Rs15m for 46 CAPITAL parks

ISLAMABAD - Taking notice of dirty parks and ill-maintained walking tracks, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Maroof Afzal approved an amount of Rs 15 million for repair, maintenance and up-gradation of 46 parks.
As Islamabad continues to spread beyond boundaries and volume of population is increasing, need for great number of parks is the need of hour. Chief of Islamabad's civic authority, soon after a comprehensive visit of city's parks, asked concerned authorities to give priority to maintain parks. These parks and kids play areas are located in sectors G-6, G-7, I-9, I-10 and G-10.
Following the directions of the Chairman CDA, up-gradation work has been started from Wednesday at parks and kids play areas in "G" and "I" series sectors in the Capital city.
Member Engineering and Environment, Sanaullah Aman, will oversee the up-gradation work. The chairman CDA said that CDA is committed to providing healthy and recreational facilities to the citizens. He further said that parks and play areas not only provide facilities of physical and mental health for the citizens including children but also help in their mental grooming of children. The up-gradation work at parks and play areas should, therefore, be completed at the earliest so that citizens and particularly children may get benefit from it, he added. According to spokesman of CDA up-gradation work at all parks and kids play areas would be completed in phases, which include up- gradation of all facilities including public toilets. First phase of the up-gradation work has started and the project would be completed in 70 days.
Meanwhile Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Maroof Afzal paid a surprise visit to under-construction Kashmir Highway on Wednesday evening. He reviewed the progress and pace of work being carried out on the important highway.
The member engineering briefed the chairman about the progress on Kashmir Highway. The Chairman said that the pace of work on this important and vital inter-provincial road should be expedited to complete it as soon as possible to provide smooth travelling to the motorists. He directed the concerned person to expedite the work on bridges to be built on Kashmir Highway.
He also directed to provide alternate diversions for smooth flow of traffic in under-construction areas.  Chairman directed the engineers working on the site that CDA will not compromise on quality of work and material, so they should increase the pace of work without compromising quality.
