Rain forecast

Experts have forecast pre-monsoon rains for parts of the country including Lahore on Eidul Fitr and following days.  Moist currents are penetrating upper and central parts of the country. A westerly wave is present over upper parts of the country and likely to persist for 2-3 days.  Rain-thundershower with gusty winds/duststorm is expected at scattered places in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions), Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Sahiwal division during Eid days (Saturday, Sunday and Monday). Very very hot and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.  Meanwhile, parts of the country remained in the grip of heat wave on Friday with frequent outages adding to the woes of heat stricken people. However, isolated rain-thundershower with gusty winds/duststorm provided some relief to the people in Malakand, Hazara, Kohat, Bannu, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Sibbi remained the hottest place in the country where mercury rose as high as 50 degree Celsius. Maximum temperature in Jaccobabad was recorded 48C, Dadu and Larkana 47C. Maximum and minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded 38C and 31C respectively.  On Friday, Islamabad received 42mm rain, Rawalpindi 34mm, Garidupatta 24mm, Muzaffarabad 23mm, Kohat 20mm, Kakul 16mm, Rawalakot 11mm, Murree 10mm, Balakot 06mm, Dir 05mm, Parachinar and Bannu 01mm each. –Staff Reporter
