Arnie takes $250,000 Mercedes

LOS ANGELES-He’s most famous for driving a huge vegetable oil powered Hummer, but Arnold Schwarzenegger chose a much sportier ride to go out for lunch with his friends today.
Cruising with the top down, the Sabotage actor took the $250,000 Mercedes-Benz SLS super car for a spin around Los Angeles. The former Governor of California wore a grey T-shirt, thick brown jacket and straw cowboy hat as he drove, completing his look with a brown belt with a massive gold buckle, a matching suitably large-faced watch and a pair of unusual cowboy boots with shiny steel toecaps and heels.
Once he had parked up, the muscleman strolled in the sunshine with a smile on his face, and rested his thumbs on his belt buckle.
Petrol head Arnold is a huge fan of vehicles, and owns a fleet which at one point included a Porsche 911 Turbo, a Dodge Challenger, a Bentley Continental Supersports, a Ferrari 360 Spider, an old military Jeep and a Mercedes-Benz Unimog truck.
The 66-year-old star also owned seven Hummers, but gave up six of them - thought to have been worth around a million dollars - in a bid to work towards saving the environment in 2006. His remaining military green Hummer was then converted to run as a hybrid vehicle, fuelled by vegetable oil.
However, it was yet another of his vehicles which Arnold was driving yesterday: his Patton M47 tank. The action movie star bought the tank in 1992 and is said to be the same type he once rode in as an 18-year-old in the Austrian Army. The former body builder was treating fan Alex Mihelick to a ride in the tank and the chance to crush any object he desired, after he had won a charity raffle. Texas resident Alex was flown to California for his prize and greeted with a personal letter welcoming him to the state from Arnold.
Detailing the day on his Twitter page, Alex said how he had a healthy breakfast with the star, before they set out to crush his desired object - a mannequin dressed in a Michigan T-shirt and pyjama bottoms. He then posted a photo with him and Arnold enjoying a cigar, and later in the day they even arm wrestled.
Alex wrote: ‘Just arm wrestled at Schwarzenegger who won? Just gonna have to wait and see the video. Alex had won the day through Arnold’s charity After-School All-Stars, which runs activity programmes for nearly 90,000 low-income children across the United States. The raffle raised US$500,000 in total for the charity, which will be matched by the former bodybuilder
