Pakistan gets new football coach

LAHORE - Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) secretary Col (R) Ahmad Yar Khan Lodhi Wednesday said that the federation had appointed Mohamed Shamlan Mubarak Basheer Alshamlan as the new head coach of national football team.
Shamlan, who is Bahrain’s No 1 coach, replaced Milosavljevic Zavisa as a head coach of the national team.
Talking to this scribe, Col Lodhi said: “PFF president Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat has been striving hard to uplift the standard of football in Pakistan anddue to his sincere efforts, Pakistan is granted Bahrain’s No 1 coach Shamlan to train our national football team. The new coach will serve Pakistan soccer for two years free of cost which shows good gesture of the AFC president who has good relations with PFF chief and he wants to raise the standard of soccer in Pakistan.”
Col Lodhi said the new head coach, who recently got AFC pro licence, had been coaching Bahrain’s national team which was producing extraordinary results. “I hope Shamlan will feel no difficulty while interacting with the players and imparting training to them as he had already worked with Pakistan team in 2006 as an assistant coach.  So he is well aware of our environment and I hope he will try his best to train national players well to get better results.”  He said the newly-appointed coach would address the media today (Thursday) at 3pm here at the football house.
