Khan withdraws reply in defamation case of ex-cheif justice

Islamabad- Taking another U-turn, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has withdrawn his letter, written in response to the defamation notice of ex-chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Imran has directed his counsel Hamid Khan to withdraw the letter written in response to the defamation notice of ex-chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Hamid Khan has sent a new letter to the legal team of Iftikhar Chaudhry today.

Former chief justice had sent a defamation notice of Rs 20 million to the PTI chief in July.

Directing his counsel to take back the reply, Imran said that the letter was written without consulting him as Hamid Khan was on US tour. Hamid Khan had said in the letter that his client never meant to abuse or disrespect any member of the judiciary.

PTI chief said that the directions to retract the letter were given because the letter didn’t reflect his opinion. Khan also said he hasn’t changed his stance over Iftikhar’s involvement in the election rigging.
