Malam Jabba to have chairlifts

PESHAWAR -  Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak directed for installation of chair lifts and development of beautiful spots in Malam Jabba, a scenic tourist resort in Swat valley.

Pervez Khattak was presiding over a meeting in connection with installation of chair lifts in Malam Jabba. Minister Education & Energy Muhammad Atif Khan, MPA Dr. Haider Ali and others were also present on the occasion. The chief minister nominated Dr. Haider as a focal person, who will interact and get first-hand information about hindrances obstructing development of Malam Jabba into an attractive tourist destination. He directed for developing the area in a way to fetch domestic and foreign investors on mass scale.

The chief minister said Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had a lot of scenic and picturesque spots that were being developed on tourism lines. These projects will become the lifeline for the overall economy of the province. “These are money generating venues and we are after them to develop these areas to make them perennial earning sources for the province”, he added. He also directed for construction of roads and rehabilitation of power supply to Malam Jabba. The chief minister also issued directives for resolution of the issue of water’s scarcity and low voltage of electricity in the area. Khattak said his government wanted to upgrade existing infrastructure throughout the province.

He said the government will provide additional resources for the purpose. He directed for development of Malam Jabba in an environment-friendly way.

The development, he added, should not destroy the nature but add to its beauty.

The chief minister also agreed to the proposal for holding a local event in Malam Jabba before the international sports event reflecting different sub-cultures of the province.
