Speed breakers on Adiala Road cause nuisance

rawalpindi - The residents of Askari-VII, Askari-XIV and various other colonies along Adiala Road have demanded the authorities concerned to remove the speed breakers erected along a section of the road.
Talking to APP, a resident of Askari-VII Col (Retd) Pervez said one wonders why breakers have been placed in an area where no school is located and similarly the one along 502 Workshop, where hardly a heavy vehicle enters or leaves the workshop.
Brig (Retd) Abdul Qayyum, another resident of the colony, said the breakers are only creating traffic jam as moving traffic comes to a near halt.
Sqd Leader (Retd) Qayyum, a resident, said the breakers are also affecting flow of traffic further ahead as after crossing the breakers the congested traffic moves slowly and gets clogged at the traffic signal ahead.
Qamarullah, a resident of Gulshanabad, said, “We face problems while crossing the main bazaar, an area where the traffic moves blocks due to placing of breakers on either side of the road in a span of a furlong.”
Raja Sarfaraz, another motorist, said the commuters are already facing problem of traffic flow and in an area which does not requires breakers, a problem has been created. He called for immediate removal of these speed breakers.
Meanwhile, the area residents demanded of the MES authorities to repair the leaking water pipeline along the JCO Quarters which is breaking up the road, besides wasting water.
