Ex-MNA Rao Hashim passes away


LAHORE: Rao Mohammad Hashim Khan, one of the oldest and most senior members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), passed away on Saturday.
Rao Hashim was elected as an MNA thrice in 1970, 1977 and 1993. He also served as chairman of the Land Commission and the Public Accounts Committee. He retired from active politics after the 2002 elections. Rao Hashim was educated at the Government College Lahore and Aligarh University, from where he got his degree in law.
Rao Hashim is survived by five sons, Rao Naseem Hashim Khan (Ex-District Nazim Pakpattan), Rao Naeem Hashim Khan (Ex-Ad Hoc Justice, Lahore High Court), Rao Amin Hashim Khan (IGP Balochistan), Rao Shamim Hashim Khan (Ex-Medical Urologist, Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore) and Rao Jamil Hashim Khan (President PPP, District Pakpattan). One of his sons, Rao Fahim Hashim Khan (Ex-DCO District Jhang), has passed away earlier. Rao Hashim’s funeral will be held on Sunday (today) at his residence: 96 S, Defence Housing Authority, Lahore.
