ISLAMABAD - Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Engineer Farkhand Iqbal has said that CDA will make comprehensive arrangements for celebrating the Independence Day in the federal capital.
The authority would organize a colourful event in the Fatima Jinnah F-9 Park marked with display of the fireworks, which is expected to be participated by the hundred of thousand people from the Islamabad and adjoining Rawalpindi.
While chairing a meeting to finalise the arrangements in this regard Farkhand Iqbal said that being the Federal Capital, Islamabad would be a model in celebrations with enthusiasm and national spirit.
The meeting was participated by Member Environment, Mian Waheeduddin, Director General Water Management Sanaullah Aman , Deputy DG DMA, Mansoor Ahmed Khan, and the relevant directors of the authority.
APP adds: Preparations to mark the Independence Day of Pakistan in a befitting manner on August 14 are in full swing.
Special stalls have been set up in every nook and corner of the city for the sale of national flags, colourful buntings, banners and pictures of national heroes who made tireless efforts to achieve an independent State for the Muslims of the sub-continent.
Jashan-e-Azadi preparations are at its peak as the citizens are getting ready to celebrate the Independence Day with great enthusiasm and national zeal.
The most enthusiastic are children who are busy collecting stickers, badges and also beautifying their bicycles with special stickers inscribed with messages of Independence Day.
The Makers of buntings, flags, banners and badges are working round the clock to meet demand as well as supplying to other adjoining areas of the city.
Arrangements are also underway for holding seminars, sports competitions and literary and social activities to commemorate the Independence Day.
The city district government has also chalked out a plan in this regard.
A number of stalls with buntings, flags, badges and other items have been established in main city markets including Tench Bhatta, Saddar Bazaar, Raja Bazaar, Urdu Bazaar, Benazir Bhutto Road, Buni Market and other areas of the city.
Youngsters are very enthusiastic and getting ready to celebrate the day in a befitting manner.
On August 14, the day would dawn with special prayers in mosques for the integrity, solidarity and development of Pakistan. The 14th August is a national holiday in Pakistan.
The day is celebrated across the country with flag raising ceremonies, tributes to the national heroes and fireworks taking place.
Nowadays, national songs are in the air which gives the message that whole the nation is united. The national flags are being hoisted at the important buildings to celebrate the day with befitting manners.
Special prizes on this occasion are awarded to those who decorate and illuminate their building beautifully.
The educational institutions will also arrange special programmes to mark the Independence Day.
Meanwhile, City Traffic Police (CTP) have formed special teams to launch grand operation against one-wheelers on the occasion of Independence Day on August 13 and 14.
Traffic wardens have been directed to impound motorcycles of one-wheelers in respective police stations besides the rules violators should be sent behind the bars.
Chief Traffic Officer, (CTO) Superintendent Police (SP) Syed Ishtiaq Shah told that strict orders have been issued to all the traffic wardens, Inspectors, Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) of all sectors that no one should be spared and all the youngsters particularly those found moving on the city roads on altered motorcycles especially prepared for one wheeling should be impounded. 
The CTP have launched special drive against wheelie and made several arrangements to curb the activity aimed at protecting the youngsters as one wheeling is a cause of deaths and severe injuries for the riders said City Traffic Officer (CTO).
He said those found involved in the activity will be sent behind the bars under section 99/A. Ishtiaq Shah said though, the activity was already being checked by traffic officials deputed on the city roads but special arrangements have been made to control rash and dangerous driving and one wheeling in the city on the Independence day.
He said traffic police officers were directed to keep a vigilant eye on the one-wheelers especially on August 14 so that action in accordance with the law could be taken against them.
Under special arrangements, traffic officials are being deployed at various points.
The traffic officers and circle heads have been directed to take stern action against the one-wheelers without discrimination.
He said one-wheelers are not only playing with their own lives but also a threat for other road users.
He said the traffic wardens have been directed to take effective measures in this regard. 
He urged the citizens particularly parents to come forward and play their role to curb the activities of one wheeling, rash and negligent driving which are the main causes for fatal accidents.
