KARACHI - Inspector General Police Mushtaq Shah has directed that intelligence gathering at zonal and district levels be improved to arrest the criminals nominated in heinous crimes.
Presiding over a meeting at CPO here Thursday, he asked senior police officers to plan action against proclaimed offenders and absconders.
Additional IG Karachi Akhtar Hussain Gorchani, Additional IG Special Branch, DIGs Headquarters, CID, CIA, AIG Operations Aamir Farooqui and all senior police officers attended the meeting which reviewed overall law and order situation, security measures, investigations and crime control.
The meeting also discussed the recent wave of terrorism and the
incidents of firing at hotels and decided to ensure snap checking in the morning and evening and general holdups.
The IG Police said that the SSP crimes will supervise investigation into murder cases on case to case basis and all the SHOs will ensure every possible cooperation in this regard.
He directed forensic division to take finger prints and other evidence from crime scenes to ensure that criminals are taken to task.
Shah called for effective investigation into target killing cases to curb such incidents. He asked the police to monitor the activities of released criminals at police station level as well as the monitoring of persons listed in 4th Schedule List.
He directed the police administration to set up canteens and mess in police stations to facilitate police officers and jawans.
Meanwhile, Awami National Party Sindh spokesman on Thursday condemned the recent incidents of target killing of hotel owners in the metropolis saying that the terrorists killed an 80-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy in the attack on teashop in Karachi.
He termed that the target killing of the businessmen in the city was a well-planned conspiracy of the terrorists adding that ANP would not remain silent on the killing of Pukhtoon community in Karachi.
He added that some forces wanted to ignite ethnic violence in Karachi for their vested interests and urged the Pukhtoon community to foil these conspiracies with their unity and passions.
He expressed his deep concern over the killing of innocent people in Karachi and Balochistan and demanded of the government to take stern action against the terrorists involved in the killing of Innocent people in Karachi and Balochistan.
He added that ANP will raise the voice against the incidents of target killing of Pukhtoon and common people in Karachi at every place.
