DPC up against Nato supplies


LAHORE – Difa-e-Pakistan Council observed protest day on Friday against the restoration of Nato supplies through land route.
Rallies and demonstrations were held across the country including the City after Friday prayers to press the rulers to avoid restoration of Nato supplies. Highly charged participants from the religious and religio-political parties constituting DPC raised anti-US and anti-government slogans, set ablaze US flags and effigies of President Obama. They demanded immediate withdrawal of the US and Nato forces from Afghanistan and urged the rulers to revoke all secret agreements with the US.
In Lahore, the largest protest was held at Nasir Bagh which was led by Jamaat-ud-Dawa ameer Hafiz Muhammad Saeed. Addressing the participants, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed vowed to stop Nato supplies with public support and warned that present rulers were making worse mistakes than former military dictator Gen Pervaiz Musharraf in surrendering before the US. He said entire nation was against restoring Nato supplies but the rulers were behaving as if they had closed their eyes and ears towards the masses. He said US was fanning separatist movements and sectarian strife in various parts of the country but the rulers were acting as mere US slaves. He announced to wage long marches in various cities and run signature campaign among the masses against the restoration of Nato supplies.
Tahir Mehmood, Qari Yaqoob, Farid Ahmed Paracha, Pir Saifullah Khalid, Naeem Badshah, Yousaf Ahrar, and others also addressed the participants.
