Eight militants killed in Orakzai Agency

Eight militants were killed as security forces pounded suspected hideouts of the militants in Upper Orakazi Agency on Thursday. Official sources said that hideouts of the militants where they normally use to live, shelter outsiders and also plan terror plots were targeted by the security forces using heavy artillery and killed around eight militants. There was no independent verification of the casualties, and militants often dispute official accounts. Orakzai Agency is one of the lawless tribal area among the seven tribal region, on the Afghan border where Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) hold sway over the insurgent groups operating in the area and launching attacks on either sides of the border. It is pertinent to be mentioned here that a boy was killed and 10 others, including government officials and a minor girl, sustained injuries when Taliban militants fired six rockets at Kalaya, the headquarters of Orakzai Agency on Tuesday last where Governor Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa was to address a gathering. The TTP spokesman for Orakzai Agency, Mohammad had claimed responsibility for the rockets attack. The militants are mostly active in the upper part of Orakzai Agency despite a military operation in the area.
