Ayyan’s bail plea rejected

RAWALPINDI - The bail application of model Ayyan Ali was dismissed by Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi Bench, here on Tuesday.
The LHC court rejected the bail plea, which was filed through Sardar Ishaq Khan Advocate. Earlier, the court had reserved the judgement in the petition.
The defence council Sardar Ishaq Khan said that his client’s intentions were not mala fide as she was carrying all the legal documents of the amount she had.
“The customs department investigators had completed interrogation from Ayyan and she should be granted bail in the case,” Ishaq argued before the court.
Farhat Nawaz Lodhi, the prosecutor of customs department, said the officials had arrested the accused red-handed while carrying amount abroad. He said that the amount was recovered from her baggage through scanner machines. He informed the court that the investigators of customs were verifying the documents provided by the lawyer of Ayyan. “Besides, two mobile phones were confiscated and sent to concerned department for data but they are locked due to security codes,” he said.
The prosecutor said that she had paid 40 foreign visits. He also gave some references of smuggling cases in which smugglers were convicted and jailed.
