Ganjera’s wrongdoings to damage PSB cause

ISLAMABAD -

Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) was established with a purpose to facilitate sports persons and help them in best way possible, but incumbent persons who are occupying the highest offices in the board are working actively against this cause.
The PSB had two Director Generals which is against their own constitution as it makes hardly any sense of having two DGs, who instead of working for the promotion of sports and providing maximum facilities to the federations and associations always try to create one hurdle after another. The latest case of highhandedness of DG Technical and Training Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, who described himself as doctor of sports and proudly told everybody that he had done PHD in sports from Australia, but there are some hidden facts and people had serious reservations in this regard.
In the latest episode, Ganjera despite several verbal promises made to Asian and Pakistan No 1 U-14 tennis player Syed Nofil Kaleem Imam of providing him with the facility to utilise PSB gym, nothing on ground was done and delaying tactics, as usual, were used in the first phase. When he provided him with the official Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) letter in which it was requested to allow Nofil to utilise gym facilities for training purposes. After receiving the official letter, Ganjera was left with no other option but to allow the youngster to train in the gym. He instead of written permission verbally allowed Nofil to train in the gym, but here too, the malicious intent was very much there, as he only allowed Nofil to train but denied his physical trainer Shahidul Haq’s entry into the gym because of personal grudge.
When Nofil tried to enter the gym, attendant Ansar, who is a close relative of Ganjera, refused to allow him to enter and when finally Ganjera was approached and his help was sought, he allowed only Nofil to enter the gym.  How it is possible for a 13-year old boy to practice without technical person’s help. The guy at gym is known for such harsh treatments and was reported several times, but he always gets away from any punishment because of his close relations with Ganjera. When Shahid asked why he was not allowed in the gym despite having a decades old experience and well reputation in the sporting circles, he said: “I was told to contact Ganjera and after several tries, Shahid finally managed to find Ganjera, who as per his habit, instead of accepting his dubious role, put the blame on others.” How is it possible that a lowly-ranked person can disobey the orders of the DG? PSB Director General Syed Amir Hamza Gilani should take notice of this incident as there were also a number of other complaints like this against the DG technical and training but he always gets away one way or another from giving any explanation.
