LAHORE   -  The combined entry test for admissions to BSc Engineering and BSc Engineering Technology programmes in University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, its affiliated engineering colleges and other engineering institutions around Punjab is going to be held on Sunday at 10 am.

More than 50,000 candidates are appearing in this test.  For this purpose, 13 examination centres have been set up including UET main campus GT Road Lahore, UET Kala Shah Kaku Campus, UET Taxila, International Islamic University Sector H-10 Islamabad, College of Engineering & Technology Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, NFC Institute of Engineering & Technology Khanewal Road Multan, College of Engineering Islamia University Bahawalpur, Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Technology Rahim Yar Khan, NFC institute of Engineering & Fertilizer Research Faisalabad, University of Gujrat (UoG) Gujrat,  Government College of Technology Rasul, Dr AQ. Khan Institute of Technology Mianwali and Quaid-e-Azam College of Engineering & Technology 6 KM Pakpattan Road Sahiwal.

Candidates are required to bring admit card (available on website), CNIC or B-Form issued by Nadra, original photo, ID that can be CNIC or passport or Matric/First Year certificate or domicile, a clean clipboard and ball pen/marker to fill the bubble sheet.

Students are advised not to bring calculators, books, notes, erasers, and lead pencils, stapler, mobile phones and hand bags in test hall.

Dialogue

The 4th consultative dialogue on higher education in Pakistan was held at University of Education College Road Township.  The dialogue was attended by the representatives of HEC and VCs. In his inaugural address, Vice Chancellor of University of Education Dr Rauf-e-Azam said: “We are gathered here to discuss the problems faced by Higher Education Sector and put forward the Meaningful Recommendations.”  Chairman of Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr Nizamuddin said that universities should focus on research culture. He said we should produce good teachers and excellent researchers as well. Dr Nizam said the VCs should be given due powers to strengthen the universities. In his address , Dr. Hassan Ameer Shah the Vice chancellor Government College University said there should not be any political  interference in the affairs of universities. The Women University Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor said our universities should be more focused on quality research. Dr. Naveed Ahmad Malik the rector Virtual University emphasized that research should be based on the need of our industry. Dr Rukhsana David the Vice Chancellor of Kinnaird College said that we have to take firm decisions to strengthen higher education sector.

It was recommended to protect autonomy of universities, at least 4 % of GDP should be allocated to education and ¼ of this allocated budget should be for higher education sector, all provinces should have their HEC, a national task force must be constituted to revisit HEC law and recommend improvements in Higher Education sector.
