Relief items dispatched

Rawalpindi - As part of earthquake relief operations, another convoy of nine heavy vehicles of National Logistics Cell loaded with necessary supplies left here for Jalozai Camp, informed NLC spokesman Syed Mushtaq yesterday.
He said that the relief goods included tents, blankets and plastic sheets which would be distributed among earthquake victims in disaster hit areas of KP and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). 
He added that NLC has put a fleet of 20 vehicles on standby for the relief operations whereas more task vehicles have been called to assist Pakistan Army and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in ensuring a smooth logistics supply chain to effectively deal with emergency.
Meanwhile, 12 vehicles loaded with relief items that were dispatched on Tuesday reached Jalozai Camp. The vehicles were unloaded and relief supplies were handed over to Army and NDMA authorities for onward transportation and distribution among the affectees. He informed that NLC has set up control centre at headquarters level to monitor the logistics requirements in earthquake affected areas and coordinate with relevant departments to help them in transportation of relief goods and other supplies.
