Glowing tributes paid to Edhi

wah cantt - Glowing tributes were paid to renowned humanitarian and social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi in a condolence reference held here yesterday.

The reference was organised by local PML-N leader and social worker Sheikh Zeeshan Saeed, which was attended by people from different walks of life including social workers, representatives of different NGOs, philanthropists, physicians, writers and poets.

While paying tributes to Abdul Sattar Edhi, the speakers said there is no precedence of the selfless services rendered by him for the sake of humanity.

They said that in a country where government-run services have been ill-equipped to deal with humanitarian crises, Edhi’s social welfare system has become a trusted household name. They expressed deep sense of sorrow at the demise of Edhi and remembered his services for the common man of Pakistan in golden words. They urged masses to follow Edhi’s footprints as he is a beacon for serving humanity.

On this occasion, participants prayed for the departed soul and extended sympathies with his near and dear ones.

Meanwhile, Member of National Assembly of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Mian Javed Latif has said that welfare work of renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi cannot be expressed in words.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said that Abdul Sattar Edhi was an asset of the country and a hope of the poor people. He said people had blind trust on Edhi and his death has created a vacuum which would not be fulfilled and he (Edhi) would be remembered for long time in the hearts and mind of common people. He prayed to Allah almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude. The MNA said that nation has lost a great human being and person who rendered his life towards the cause of humanity in any difficult time of need.
